What is Sedation Dentistry?
Sedatives are used to help promote a sense of deep relaxation, eliminating anxiety and fears. The level of sedation can range from mild to moderate, where you will still be awake and able to communicate with our dental team. Sedation can be given orally, may be inhaled, or in the case of sleep dentistry it may be administered through an IV.
How Does Sedation Dentistry Differ From Sleep Dentistry?
Sleep dentistry or intravenous dentistry is a deeper form of sedation that is suitable for more anxious patients or for longer and more complex appointments. The medication is given through an IV and although you may not actually be asleep, you are unlikely to remember anything about your treatment.
